Mountain Log Index > Entry February 19th: The Magillicuddy Reeks This one was supposed to be Purple and Tomies Mountain but when we got to Supermacs (The pit stop formally known as The Daily Diner!) we saw that there was snow on the Reeks and this could not be missed. Sun was shining and it was lookin' good! We decided to go up the Devils Ladder and then work eastward along the ridge to The Bone from whence we would ascend. At least this was decided by Kevin and Doc who will brook no opposition to their decisions. Cloud came down while we were in the ridge and visibility was reduced to ten meters. At one stage Doc, who is rumoured to be one of The Gang of Four even though he has consistently denied it in public almost walked off the edge. The horrific thing about this was that Paul S. stood by and watched. It’s every man for himself in this group. As every one was disappointed with the change in the weather we had to recite the club mantra; "Whether the weather is fair, or whether the weather is not.
